Whould it be wierd if i im'ed a girl that i only talked to once?

she has lived here for a 1 year now.. she is from Iran.. has a handful of friends.. i know 3 of them .. thas how i know of her*.. would it be weird if i im'ed her.. i got her sn from facebook, so its not like i stole it. I just want to get to know her better, maybe possibly hang out .. just to see if we click or not? How should i go about doing this? what should i say to her? What should i not say to her?
